ANTHRACNOSE

Anthracnose presents a collection that explores the textures and forms resulting from plant diseases such as Anthracnose, Rhizopus, Sooty mold, Wilts, Powdery mildew, Downy mildew, and Mucor mold. These pieces, conceived with both scientific and artistic approaches, reinterpret the signs of plant deterioration into elements of furniture design.

Each plant pathology mentioned induces specific changes in plant morphology and physiology. Anthracnose manifests as necrotic spots and sunken lesions; Rhizopus produces invasive mycelial structures; Sooty mold is characterized by a superficial layer of black fungi; Wilts cause wilting and vascular collapse; Powdery mildew covers surfaces with a white, powdery mycelium; Downy mildew forms sporangia on the undersides of leaves; and Mucor mold generates spherical spores. These biological transformations are studied and replicated using advanced design techniques, such as 3D modeling, surface texturization, and the use of innovative materials that mimic the physical properties of the affected structures.

Each piece of furniture in the collection utilizes materials and techniques that replicate the visual and tactile characteristics of these pathologies, exploring the processes of biological deterioration. By transforming the symptoms of these diseases into aesthetic components, the series highlights the interplay between science and art, proposing a new way to appreciate beauty in what is traditionally considered imperfection.
